I am simply hoping that people who read my article would reflect on these standards. I am also drawing attention to the fact that the notion of “common courtesy” is a social construct, just like one’s opinion on propriety, and by the same rule, it varies widely across the world. When everyone in Silicon Valley is talking about inclusiveness and embracing diversity, I think the idea of a singular and homogenous standard of “niceness” is outdated.
